Betting After the Draw

An eight high is worth a raise in most positions, and a seven high a re-raise. A six high is normally worth a third raise, but a bad six, headed by C 5 4, should not be rated higher than, say, a medium full house in Draw Poker.

If it is beaten you can be disappointed but not amazed. Cinches, 6 4 3 2 A, are by no means unknown in Lowball.
Inevitably there is a fair amount of bluffing after the draw

A player who has made a hopeless hand such as a straight or medium pair will often try a bluff, at any rate in a small field, since he knows that if he checks he cannot possibly win. It is hard to call such a bet when you have drawn a pair oneself. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that, against an opponent who has drawn one card and raised, a pair of deuces will win nearly as often as a ten high, since with a hand in between those two the opener will usually check.
