In
Caribbean Stud Poker, there is no particular betting strategy
to pursue in terms of gaining an advantage as there is in blackjack,
except to bet intelligently according to one's bankroll.
A bettor should never risk money that he cannot afford to lose.
That is the first rule for any betting proposition and really
one of the most important rules in gambling, if not the most
important rule. (We'll talk more about the concepts of bet size,
betting limits, and the amount one should put at risk in the
money management section.)
Occasionally, the progressive jackpot may get into the hundreds
of thousands of dollars, and the bettor will be looking at a
positive expectation on the progressive $1 wager. This is rarely
seen, but in these instances, when we're chasing a very large
progressive jackpot, a situation which actually gives us the
edge, our strategy will be to keep the ante bet as small as
possible to minimize the effect of the house edge on the ante
and call bets.
