IThe
main thing to keep in mind with Caribbean Stud Poker is that
the game is a negative expectation gamble. The casino has an
advantage of 5.25% on the regular ante bets, 2,56% when the
call bets are taken into account. Theoretically, the longer
a bettor plays, the closer to the 5.25% and 2.56% "taxes"
that will be extracted by the inevitable house edge built-in
to the game.
On the progressive bet, as we discussed earlier, the house edge
can soar to almost 75%, or in exceptionable cases, where the
progressive jackpot is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars,
can actually favor the player. But as we all know, there are
up and down swings in gambling. Anyone, with a little luck,
can walk away from the table a winner. But to maximize one's
chances of winning, bettors must play their cards correctly
and make only the best bets available to them.
A player's first order of business is to avoid the progressive
bet. Unless the jackpot is enormous, at least $200,000 or more,
depending upon the circumstances, this bet gives too much away
to the casino. Avoiding this wager will avoid a constant drain
on a player's bankroll.
Secondly, bettors must study the playing strategy so that the
correct moves are made and the chances of winning are optimized.
As we saw earlier, there is a lot of information to remember,
but one must learn the strategies and use them all the time,
not just when the mood strikes.
There is no substitute for correct play. Hunches only build
the casinos bigger and make the players poorer.
Finally, intelligent money management decisions must be employed
at the tables. When things are going poorly, which they sometimes
do, we must limit our losses. We will never take a bad beating
in any one session. And when we're on a hot streak, we'll make
sure that we leave a winner.
We'll never give the casino back all our winnings once we've
got a big winning streak going. That's not only the key in Caribbean
Stud Poker, but in all gambling pursuits. |
